Rest In Peace - Shere Khan
It is with shattered hearts that we tell you our precious Shere Khan has joined his brother Leo in Heaven. Test results came in this morning and confirmed there was absolutely nothing else that could be done for our sweet boy, and the kindest gift we could give him was the gift of freedom from the body that was no longer functioning as it should. Shere Khan passed away in the arms of his main caregiver, inside his straw filled tunnel with Baloo nearby. He heard soft words of adoration whispered in his ear and felt the warmth of loving, comforting strokes on his beautiful face as he very peacefully closed his big green eyes and took his last breath.
We are so grateful that Shere Khan was able to live a long, full life at Noahs Ark where he was incredibly loved and spoiled. He had three acres to roam, big beautiful creek to play in, tons of toys and enrichment, an amazing clubhouse with a porch, two loving brothers and humans who absolutely adored him. Since he first arrived at Noahs Ark as a cub in 2001, Shere Khan has never known a bad day, and lived as free and as happy as possible for a tiger in captivity could for over 17 years. It was truly an honor to care for such an amazingly intelligent, beautiful and genuinely loving animal as Shere Khan, and he will be missed every single day.
We have a bereavement plan in place for Baloo and will be monitoring him closely to ensure that loosing his last brother doesnt take an adverse physical toll on his health. He was with Shere Khan this morning every step of the way and will be present for his burial as well, just like he was for Leos burial. We will be holding a memorial service in celebration of Shere Khans amazing life in January and will let you know when the date is decided upon.
We cannot thank you enough for your kindness and support during this difficult time, it means the world to us. Thank you all for loving our dear Shere Khan until the end. May he Rest In Peace.
