Hero of the Month

By

Almost before you can say, “Linda, can you…” Linda Baker says “Yes!” This energetic lady gives almost every Wednesday of the year to Noah’s Ark, working primarily in the animal habitat. When she’s not at Noah’s Ark, she’s out rescuing other animals and making sure they get a forever home – sometimes at Noah’s Ark!

Linda Baker knows the animals, she LOVES the animals, and she is always willing to tell a visitor to Noah’s Ark about how precious they are. She has been caught more than once doing the “ostrich dance” with Barney the ostrich by folks driving by; has been spat upon by her favorite llama, Two Toes; has been chased by an over-zealous rooster; and while touring a group which witnessed the live birth of a baby llama “up close and personal,” stammered out to the youngsters “Ask your parents!” One memory that Linda chuckles over is the time that some teenagers decided at the end of the day that they didn’t want to leave the habitat. When Linda asked them to leave, they wanted to know who she was. She jokingly told them “Oh, I’m the one who locks the gates – after I turn the tigers out for exercise.” They believed her and left immediately!

Without the Linda Baker’s in the world, organizations like Noah’s Ark would not be possible. Noah’s Ark counts it a privilege to count her as our volunteer of the year – and as a forever friend.

Way to go mom! I’ve seen the ostrich dance myself. I don’t know if it’s exactly the right jig, but it works! Love you!

Hi Jason!!! Thank you honey for the sweet comment. I remember you, I will never forget you. Your family were so very kind to us when Jorgie broke his neck. I am so very sorry about your sister, it was such a shock. Bless you and I sure wish I could see you all again some day. Hugs, Linda

dr. Karen Thomas is truly an unsung heroine who is very modiest, dedicated to her patients, work, and a valuable assesset to her vocation. I am blessed to be able to call her a friend. I have seen her hard at work and know first hand of her willingness to help. She loves the Ark.
